It has all its bits and pieces still in great shape.. This 1890's large Edwardian era antique oak or walnut wood coal Purdonium (hot box-to contain fuel and a small brass handle for opening plus a back one to carry around. metal liner) storage w/hinged door top copper/brass handle and back handle for scoop storage for the matching brass shovel, also door knob. These were originally kept right next to a fireplace or stove to hold lumps of coal, keeping the fuel tidy and hidden from view. Hand made w/full tin insert and large original brass scoop wood handle. Today homeowners use them to store fireplace kindling, blankets, dog toy or food, etc. Also bought in Central Europe, these were of English, Scottish or French descent, my lean is England..but no markings I found..comps for a fully in tact piece, 500-1000
.* disclosure there is slight wear on the very top as if someone used it as a side table..
