The event is of the first manned , untethered hot-air ballon flight designed by the Montgolfier brothers. The print captures the historic ascent from November 21, 1783, from the grounds of the Chateau de la Muette near Paris. The German inscription reads -Exact depiction of the Aerostatic Machine, with which M. Montgolfier on Nov 21, 1782 on the Schloss-Plaz (Chateau grounds).
