Amazing one of a kind, Antique Carved Epergne black forest hand carved stand, originating from Brienz, Switzerland. Created out of either Walnut or Linwood, with a pheasant/peacock standing in foliage and the horn shaped flute insert is made of fine cut Bohemia crystal and is a vase insert. circa late 1800-early 1900’s. This tradition and skill was born out of famine in 1816, which forced local Swiss artisans to look for alternative livelihoods, where they began carving everyday items adorned with local wildlife to sell to passing tourists.
